As the two avid readers of this blog will know, Audit Monkey is currently looking for a new position before the current contract expires. So in the past few weeks, I’ve been on the phone to various recruitment consultants with my cap in hand, looking for a new position. After chatting with one consultant from a certain agency (whom I am tempted to name and shame) and a short discussion regarding my career history, he came to the conclusion that:

“You’ve jumped around too much [changed jobs too frequently], our clients don’t like that. Adios”

Admittedly, he never said “adios” but it was clear that the consultant was favouring continuity over progression. However, if you follow the inferred logic to it’s bitter end, I’d still be filling shelves at the local supermarket. In truth, he wanted Big 4 candidates with no exceptions but as I’ve mentioned previously, Big 4 doesn’t necessarily make for better candidates but the perception still persists.

Of course the gag is that when the market picks up this joker will be phoning people trying to get them to switch jobs thus driving a horse and cart through their continuous service record. Tossers the lot of them..
