I was a bit cheeky recently and went for an interview. It wasn’t easy as the Interviewer had two pages of questions to select from and you knew there was going to be no mercy. There was a steady flow of random questions:

I realised that it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted a ‘quote of the week’. For those readers who are oblivious to ‘quote of the week’, this is where I lift a phrase or utterance made by someone in the office, on the train, in the media, etc, which is relevant to my work as an Internal Auditor (cough, splutter) or which I find mildly amusing or simply crass.

As the two readers of this blog will be aware, my pet topics are dim auditors, dumb HR officers and plain dumb interview questions. Unfortunately, given this week’s events, this rich seam of blogging material shows no sign of abating. Audit Monkey was subjected to some inane interview questions but in particular had me beat:

Ever wondered what an auditor is asked at interview? I will now lift the lid. These questions were posed to Audit Monkey at a recent grilling at a Big 4 Bank in the UK. I have added the ‘real’ answers to the questions I would have liked to have uttered. I did not wish to proceed as wasn’t particularly keen on the firm in the first instant. The ripped chairs and damaged fixtures and fittings in the interview room only reinforced my views. Anyway.
